At The beach June 29, 2012

It was awfully hot and humid the week we were on the island, but we tried to get to the beach a few times! It seemed we were pretty happy just hanging out at our villa in the shade of the pines or in the pool or playing Settlers of Catan:

More family fun June 2012

A pleasant hangout just up the road from our Villa was Las Dunas Playa Bar and Restaurant. When Ben was working on his thesis, I took Elliott in the stroller for a walk around "the block" or down to the next beach, El Arenals, then stopped by for a good coffee.

Family holiday June 2012

On Sunday, June 24th, Steph and Lou arrived after a long haul from Denver-Chicago-Zurich-Barcelona-Ibiza and finally Formentera! It was such fun to have everyone under one roof, so to speak, as Steph and Lou chose to stay in the studio apartment at the back of the villa)!

On Monday morning, the scuba gang headed out for their first dives (Pat, Jen, Steph and Lou). Elliott didn't see why he should have to hang out at the house with Dad and Grandma!

Week-long family holiday June 23-30, 2012

Back in the winter, we figured out that we could all spend a week together at the end of June, so after much consulting back and forth, we decided on the island of Formentera, just south of Ibiza, in the Mediterranean, where sun, sand, sea and scuba abound! We located a lovely villa to rent with bedrooms for all of us, a beautiful pool and backyard area with lounge chairs and a terrace on which to take most meals. Ben arrived from Canada on Friday, June 15th and the next day we got up early and made our way to the airport in a very loaded BMW! We flew Barcelona to Ibiza on Vueling then got a ferry to Formentera (not this one!):










We rented a manual transmission car on the island and again, loaded to overflowing, we made it to our rental house, located at Km 11 on Migjorn Beach. A first dip in the pool after the infamous grocery run:
