Last gasp driving trip November 21-28, 2015

Day 1: VERY windy across the whole of Spain from Caldes d'Estrac to Segovia where we spent the night at the Hotel Palacio San Facundo and enjoyed the region's famous "cochonillo" (suckling pig) for dinner.

But first a picnic lunch off the highway and in the car (because of the winds):

It was dark when we arrived in Segovia-the Cathedral is in the background:

Town hall in the city square:

The Alcazar:

A pre-dinner drink at a bar in the Plaza Major where Barça beat Madrid 4-0:

The well-known restaurant José-Maria where we enjoyed a plate of grilled vegetables and the suckling pig:

No room for dessert...

Day 2: Segovia to Lisbon

Inside the Cathedral in Segovia:

La Plaza Major with a metal Christmas tree set up in the middle of the square:

The Roman Aqueduct at Segovia:

The Aqueduct and the Old Town on the hill:

As we left Segovia for Avila to see the walled city, it began to snow! By the time we reached Lisbon about 7 p.m., it was pouring rain!

Avila:

In Lisbon we stayed three nights at the Art Deco Boutique Hotel Britania, where we had stayed a few years back. For further information on it, check out their website:
