Long weekend in Lisbon, Portugal (Part 2)

On Sunday morning, we decided to attend Mass in the Cathedral, so we walked from our hotel to the Sé, built in 1150 on the site of a mosque soon after Christians recaptured the city from the Moors. We were surprised to find a mere 50 people or so at the service.

The Arc de Triomph at the Praça do Comércio:

Tram 28 again:

Lovely souvenir shop called A Arte da Terra, housed in a former stable of the bishops' palace opposite the Cathedral (note the old feeding troughs):

From there we climbed up to wander around the Castelo de San Jorge, dating from the 5th Century, never a residential castle but rather a fortification:

Views of the city below:

A resident peacock:

We had a lovely seafood lunch at O Faz Figura overlooking the River Tejo, yet another good recommendation from Lonely Planet:

And later on, dinner at Pharmacia, featuring lots of quirky artifacts taken from an old pharmacy:

That's it from Lisbon, still way more to see and visit another time...
